Vortex, book three of the Alban Saga, is such a rewarding read! Surprises, twists, cliff hangers, and unexpected heroes emerge. Bob likes to build, build, build anticipation… and then right when the critical information is to be conveyed from one character to the next… “let’s first eat something, have some tea, get some rest, and talk about all of it in the morning”… Nooooooooo! Let’s talk about it noooooowwwww! But Bob is right. The crescendo moments ease into logical position before a calculated decision or action takes place. It’s so satisfying! The setting in Scotland couldn’t be more fitting for this mystical, magical Druid story rooted in modern time with flashes to the past. It makes it feel like it could all be real. Many authors use time travel as a crutch to get themselves out of a corner, but Bob is just the opposite. Time travel in Vortex is woven elegantly as an essential part of the characters’ mission and the end game. Bravo Bob. This saga is outstanding.
