Sent out 80 Agent Queries in two days!

                                       New!

It's been a mind numbing process, but I've sent out 80 agent queries for these two books in the last two days. You never know what will come of it, but I'm doing my best to see if someone will pick me up.

Last time I did this, I sent out about 30 and received three positive responses. I didn't get a contract, but my interaction with the agents was positive.

It's interesting how each agent has their own particular requirements for the queries. Some want a query letter with the first page of the book, or the first fifty pages, or ten. Some want a summary, while others want just the letter. It's important to read each agent's directions carefully and follow them as exactly as possible, but it gets a bit crazy sometimes.

I'm enjoying working as in independent author, but I'd like to see if I could break through to a larger audience. Getting an agent is usually part of that process.

I will continue looking for other agents this week and then hopefully start on my next novel after I've completed my search.

I've started re-reading Beatrice again. It needs to be freshly engrained in my mind so that I can continue the story from where it left off. I'm really looking forward to writing again, and I have some fun ideas bubbling up!

Building Readership and Continuing Agent Search

The last three weeks have been all about building readership. To accomplish that goal, I've used the kindle giveaway and free paperback giveaway, and I'm looking forward to hearing from the many people who either downloaded the kindle version of my books, received a paperback, or purchased one of them. It's been a great couple of weeks. A total of 785 books have either been downloaded or ordered from many countries around the world.

During this time, I haven't written anything, but I have worked on ideas for my next book and future books. I've also been looking for an agent again. Last time I did this, I received some positive feedback but haven't been picked up by anyone yet. I know this is a long process, and in the meantime I will keep writing, studying, and working on my craft.

I want to apologize that I haven't been able to continue writing any short stories or poems, but I know at some point that I will get back to those. Ever since May of 2013, I've been incredibly focused on my novels - writing 5-6 days a week, 6-10 hours a day. The break I'm taking from writing right now is both necessary and welcome, but I'm getting the itch to begin again soon. I believe that my next book will be a sequel to Beatrice - another fantasy/mystery. That could change. We'll see.

Thanks again to everyone, and I hope you enjoy the stories!

THE CHOSEN: Book Description

THE CHOSEN

The editing for The Chosen will be completed within the next two days, and Greg Opalinski is working hard on the cover. He should be done in a couple of weeks. I hope to have The Chosen published on Amazon by the middle of March.

In this entry, I am including the first Description of the book, which is below. It won't be long now, and it will be ready to publish!

Book Description

In the future, the Earth is dying and is abandoned by The Chosen, an elite and powerful, corporate upper-class. Most of their descendants have settled in lifeglobes on various rocks throughout the galaxy, and their original society and culture has been lost and forgotten.

That is, on every outpost except M-78. On that rock-strewn, resource-laden planet, The Chosen’s way of life has remained in tact for over five centuries, and Harlequin has been their leader ever since leaving Earth.

But now, Harlequin is determined to locate another Earth-like planet to inhabit and exploit. She succeeds, and not only does she learn about a magnificent planet called Loon, but at the same time, discovers that Earth has reset itself. The Chosen may be able to reinhabit their ancestral home.

This sets up a struggle between two extremely divergent cultures: one where reason, science, and social awareness have created a society in tune with their world and with each other; and that of The Chosen, whose main philosophy is centered on the acquisition of wealth and power at any cost.

In The Chosen, these two societies and the unique individuals who inhabit them, tell a story of two worlds on a collision course, with the result being a galactic conflict whose outcome will impact the human race for eons to come.
