BLACK GROTTO: Description & Chapter 1

BLACK GROTTO

DESCRIPTION

Black Grotto takes place in Scotland and begins in the year AD 500 when a great Druid prophet named Erin travels with his scribe to a primordial and sacred cave high up in the Three Sisters. At the age of eighty, he is guided there by his dreams in order to finally reach the zenith of his prophecies.
The story then moves forward in time to AD 2022 where a young Druid named Bea Bauman is coming of age. It is a very special day and one where her mother and father finally share with her the true story of her birth.
What she learns that day completely changes her life, and she sets out alone on a long journey across the width and breadth of Scotland. Her wanderings are filled with danger, magic, and overpowering discoveries. They take her to ancient Druid places of power, places of raw and natural beauty, of history and lore, and introduce her to Anu Grenn and Willam Brodie - her unexpected mentors.
But as all of this is happening, a Druid priestess named Brenna is secretly observing Bea. She is biding her time and preparing to connect with the earth’s darkest magic at just the right moment in order to bring the world to its knees. She pursues Bea and her destiny without mercy as the world lurches, unknowingly, at the edge of a cliff. The forces of light and darkness are in the balance… Which will it be?

BLACK GROTTO: Finished Editing Process

BLACK GROTTO

Update: Editing Process Is Complete

Just tonight I finished the final read-through of Black Grotto. It was a very emotional moment for me, not only because of completing the work, but also because of the story and characters. The book has several chapters throughout where the plot takes unexpected turns, but the end of the book from chapter 27 on is a real roller coaster ride.

I started doing the research for the book in April of 2015, and I've loved writing it. It's been my longest novel and takes place in Scotland. It's a fantasy, and I'll put the description of the book on my blog soon. Also, it should be published on Amazon sometime in June.

BLACK GROTTO: New Fantasy Book Published Soon!

BLACK GROTTO

Update: Editing Process Almost Done

I've almost completed the editing of Black Grotto, and it should hopefully be published sometime in June. I've included an excerpt from the beginning of chapter 21, and you can also read the first chapter by clicking the link below.

Here is the excerpt from the beginning of chapter 21, titled "The Stones".

The black, wet pavement passed beneath the humming tires of Bea’s dark blue Mini. Another road trip lay ahead. She rolled along in a meditative and thoughtful mood that matched the low hanging clouds and soft drizzle that covered her windshield. Her body was swaying slightly with each curve and dip in the road as she casually grasped the steering wheel with one hand; the other lay atop the leather knob of the gearshift. Almost without thinking, she changed gears at the whim of her car’s engine, the demands of the road, and her own need for power and acceleration.
Traveling north out of Glencoe, Bea’s neurons hummed in sync with her car but journeyed faster and farther and covered more ground. She sensed that going back to her birthplace would be exhilarating, sure, but also very unsettling. There was no way for her to know what would happen once she arrived. Her newfound spiritual connection to the earth’s deep magic in conjunction with everything that she had learned on her quest would more than likely unearth something new and unexpected. The thought made her chuckle to herself as she realized…actually, her entire journey had been that way. “Why would this be any different?”
